Cue the good vibrations and excitations! The music of The Beach Boys at FST’s Goldstein Cabaret. (Oom, Bop-Bop)

What better way to set that summer mood than with the music that pioneered the famous ‘60s “California Sound?” In this show, four Broadway veterans bring you all the classic hits you know and love – from “California Girls” and “I Get Around” to “Barbara Ann” and, of course, “Surfin’ USA,” in The Surfer Boys.

“This is truly feel-good music,” said Catherine Randazzo, who provides artistic oversight for the full Summer Cabaret Series. “This group comes to us from the same production company that brought you last season’s audience favorite, The Jersey Tenors. Just like The Tenors, this cast features world class vocal talent. And it takes that high level of talent to bring you those honey-tinged harmonies that made The Beach Boys the household name they are today.”

“We knew how intricate and difficult it would be to pull off such a task,” said show creator Brian Noonan of the decision to write a revue celebrating the music of The Beach Boys. “They had this incredible five-part harmony, created by Brian Wilson. While we don’t try to copy or mimic, we want to complement what The Beach Boys meant to our society by creating great musical arrangements with our own creative stamp.”

In addition to those iconic harmonies, complete with that reach-for-the-heavens falsetto, and the group’s original music arrangements, this quartet features fun choreography and a real connection with audiences that is almost instantaneous.

“This show is meant to feel like a conversation – maybe even a collaboration – right with the audience,” said Noonan. “Having people come up to us, saying, ‘That was the most fun I’ve had in years,’ or ‘I left the theatre with a big smile on my face,’ means we’ve done our job and is ultimately the most exciting part of doing this show, for me.”

Since the group first started performing this revue in 2014, attendees have continued to praise the revue. Show after show, audiences can’t seem to keep from boogying in their seats to songs like “Do You Want to Dance,” and couples lean in, hold hands, and exchange knowing glances with their sweethearts as the cast sings, “God only knows what I’d be without you.”

“It’s like The Beach Boys, but even better,” said one attendee. “It’s just great music and absolutely fantastic talent,” agreed another.
So, who’s ready to have some fun, fun, fun? We look forward to seeing you soon for your upcoming performance of The Surfer Boys.
