The commissioners will continue to focus on crucial action items including water quality initiatives, capital project management, facility planning, mental health and substance abuse, destination athletic fields, and affordable housing, as well as additional priorities discussed today. These include advanced wastewater treatment, roadway improvements, comprehensive plan amendments, an indoor multi-use sports facility, and developing sidewalks plans that connect to schools and The Legacy Trail.

The board will finalize its strategic priorities during the Jan. 11, 2022, commission meeting. The Sarasota County Board of County Commission webpage will be updated in January 2022 to reflect these changes and the board’s committee appointments.
