Gypsy is back in town at Venice Theatre

Venice Theatre presents GYPSY,

Music by Jule Styne; Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim; Book by Arthur Laurents
Based on Gypsy: A Memoir by Gypsy Rose Lee

FEB 17 – MAR 19

One of the most well-known musical fables, of all time, which tells the story of 2 sisters, Louise and June, and their strong, opinionated, success-hungry mother, known as Rose.

Rose, wonderfully played by seasoned actress, Diane Dawson, supported by Tony Boothby, plays her faithful boyfriend and agent to her girls. Cora Clinch, as baby June, her character as a teen played by Delaney Lockwood, and Addie Miller as baby Louise, who becomes the famous Gypsy Rose Lee, a role played incredibly well by Venice’s own, Shannon Maloney
Hats off, to all of the cast and crew for their superb timing, lighting, stage sets, exquisite costumes and delightful singing, dancing, and humor. Of course, the unforgettable Burlesque dancers and their memorable performances are one of the highlights of this show.
They even have live animals!
The story unfolds by telling us of the early years as child performers, in the traveling vaudeville circuit, as we watch poor Louise supporting her sister, dainty June.
Strong and vibrant, the story explodes in Act 2 with the marvelous Burlesque dancers, which will have you in stitches.

It is amazing to see the restoration continue of our Venice theatre. Everyone’s contributed to the production of Gypsy, on the newly built stage in the  Raymond Center. Such a beautiful job was done.

As development continues, I am proud to support and encourage others to give generously until the goal is met. I look forward to more performances again and again as GYSPY was truly inspiring to see.
The casting for this production was perfectly in line with the Broadway rendition and faithful to the original.
Everything’s coming up roses!
Don’t miss it!
