Jared Inman and Megan Hendrick star in Syncopation, directed by Benny Sato Ambush and choreographed by Vanessa Russo. They invite you to this touching blend of theatre, music, and dancing. Benny says, “Syncopation is a romance of self-discovery, of beauty in motion, of being on fire about something, of reinvention!”
The time is1911, the place, New York City. The country is experiencing a cusp period of social and political change. It’s an age when anything is possible. When women were fighting for their right to vote and workers were marching for safety and a decent wage.
Henry Ribolow is a meat packer, edgy, high-energy and larger than life. He is a Jewish immigrant from Poland who wants to create his mark in the world through dance. He rents a studio and runs a series of newspaper ad to find a dance partner.
Anna Bianchi is a proper young Italian woman. A factory seamstress who has a creative talent for beading, she is cautious yet aspirational, and itching to break free of her life’s constriction and find her true self. Without telling her friends or family, she answers one of Henry’s newspaper ads and learns to dance.
Megan Hendrick as Anna
Megan is happy to return to Venice Theatre, after previously appearing as Effie in The Spitfire Grill and as multiple characters in God’s Country. She was also in our production of Hamlet. Like Anna, she has no formal dance background, and she’s so grateful to Benny and Vanessa for this opportunity. Other past shows include Spreading It Around and Now and Then at the Lemon Bay Playhouse, and The Secret Garden and Electra with the Heritage Players in Pittsburgh, PA.
Jared Inman as Henry
Jared is thrilled to return to the stage at Venice Theatre for Syncopation. Raised in Port Charlotte and Sarasota, Jared pursued his passion for dance, eventually performing in Las Vegas productions like Vegas! The Show. Beyond performing, he explores his creativity through video editing and instructional design, where he develops engaging tutorial content. When not on stage, Jared enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially over a good board game.
