SIDEWALK ASTRONOMY
at the Bishop Planetarium
Friday, December 13

Join us tomorrow night (Friday, December 13th) at the The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature in downtown Bradenton for a FREE evening of observing through our telescopes, as well as an opportunity to enjoy some of the tasty bites available for purchase, (as well as the optional Planetarium shows!).

The museum has partnered with us, The Local Group of Deep Sky Observers, to bring Sidewalk Astronomy to The Bishop. At this free event, you’ll have a chance to see Jupiter, Saturn, and much more through our powerful telescopes!

They have also arranged to have the FEWD Taco Tent, Edible Cookie Dough Café, and Bethi B’s Coffee Cart for you to enjoy a bite to eat while observing the universe. Drinks, including beer, wine, soda, and water, will also be available for purchase.

In addition to telescopes and tacos, you’ll have a chance to see The Bishop’s newest Planetarium show, Dark Side of Light, at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30pm for just $3 per person. The Museum’s store will even be open until 8:30pm for any last-minute holiday shopping.

The Bishop is located at 201 10th Street West in downtown Bradenton. The telescopes and food trucks will be set up in the courtyard on the north (Manatee River) side of the building. The courtyard gate will be open from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.

As this is posted, (approx 30 hours prior to the event), the weather forecast looks very promising. Late afternoon clouds should be breaking up completely around sunset and the temps will range from about 70 at 6:00 p.m., dropping only to the low 60s by the time it’s over.

Looking forward, here are the five public events that follow tomorrow’s:

Saturday, January 4th (Celery Fields)

Saturday, February 1st (Celery Fields)

Friday, March 7th (Bishop)

Saturday, April 5th (Celery Fields)

Saturday, May 3rd (Celery Fields)
